Hello Kitty Anniversary Gala

By Sasha La Rochelle

On Wednesday, November 10th, I had the privilege of attending the Hello Kitty 30th anniversary party and charity auction at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. I spent several hours getting ready at my friend Jessica's house. I don't think I've ever taken that long to get ready for anything in my life. I went to the party with Jessica's mom, Debbie.

We left her house in San Pedro at a quarter to 7, thinking we were going to be late, so when we got in the car the first thing she did was turn on the radio to listen to the traffic report. We ended up getting to Hollywood in an hour which was really fast since there turned out to be a little bit of traffic after all.

When we arrived at the studio there was valet parking so we rushed to gather our things so he could take the car. The first things we encountered when we got out of the vehicle were little tables with people at them waiting to check everyone in. As soon as we were done checking in, down the pink carpet we went. It was lined with photographers and the media on one side and a Hello Kitty decorated wall on the other. I felt like I was attending a real Hollywood event!

At the end of the carpet there was the entrance way that was decorated like it was a door to Hello Kitty's house. As we walked through the doorway there was Bill and Bruce from Sanrio standing nearby. I talked to them for a few minutes and then continued on my way inside the building. As soon as we walked in there was a display of all the items that were being auctioned off for everyone to view and laptops were available near by so people could bid on the items.
